I have to agree, the composition of this one is much stronger because of the wide angle and because of the vegetation in the foreground there's more depth. The sky looks great and impressive. Beautiful sunset!

A stunning view Liners !!

Kathryn from Warburton, Australia

so wonderful and dramatic! i think i personally prefer the other one though this one is a great image itself! i find the plants in the foreground in this one a liitle distracting and the clouds in the other one a bit softer. Anyway they are both great and i always like to see multiple shots of an interesting scene like this one - it gives me more information to imagine what it is like to stand there myself! where is Ferrymead?
have you seen greg's project that he is posting at the moment? it is quite a cool idea and fits in with the whole depicting a place in multiple photos thing. i will have to remember to give it a try.

@Kathryn: Ferrymead is just outside Christchuch on the way to Sumner....I drive this way to and from work!

[Note name change..I've had the chance to sign up now but still not posted any piccies]
Yup, I like this one better; the clouds are like a funnel (or arrow) drawing you into the pic. Also Meteorlogically speaking the funnel thing also looks like a 'twister' building up which makes it a rather fearfully awesome (in the old fashioned sense) picture. But I'm sure it was just clouds this time around which just makes it a jolly good picture; nice contrast between light and dark. x

I like the wider perspective in this one, but the colors in both are wonderful! Best of luck to Kaha Kiwi; we did the same with a little bear called "Weshots Ted" a couple of years ago.

I like it better too. The foreground adds quite a bit to the shot.

26 Jan 2009 10:56pm

Anita from West Nottingham, United States

I like this composition a lot. The way the clouds form a triangle pointing at the hills, the shape of the land forming a triangle, the bit of plants in foreground, the low horizong, the colors.
