This wild and mostly uninhabited part of the South Island is just breathtaking! Looks like sandstone (or possibly limestone?) to me. Isn't this the place they have Petrified logs lying around? Next time you go to such a lovely place must forget just taking a stunning photo and do a full rock analysis instead. ;o). Seriously - lovely shot including the splash. Does it remind you of Aran?
