Yellow Eyed Penguin

This little dude was walking his way in from the sea over difficult rocks. The Yellow Eyed Penguin is one of NZ rarest Penguins. They are known to Maori as Hoiho.
This was when Helly and I really saw our true potential as wildlife photographers....crawling in the bush, shutter speed on over drive!! Beginners luck:-)

cool!! i was lucky to see some tawaki/fiordland crested penguins near where i was living on the west coast - amazing creatures and it is such a magical event to see them!
