Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaStunning is right my friend, what an amazing image, it looks like you are sooo high up, almost in a plane! Wonderful shot! :o) 11 Aug 2008 5:12am @Kylie Greenan: Thanks Kylie:-) It felt like I was really high up too! Its not the highest ski field but it sure felt like it that day with the low cloud. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Statesanother marvel! this reminds me of Georgia O'keefe! Just stunning minimal textures and bright hues... this really could be a painting! love the smoothness of it! bravo! 11 Aug 2008 6:22am @dj.tigersprout: Why thanks dj, a wonderful compliment indeed:-)) Erik from Amersfoort, NetherlandsIndeed, what a wonderful site and you captured it in a great way. 11 Aug 2008 6:34am @Erik: Thank you Erik. Between this photo and DJ's, I feel a chill this morning in Houston's sweltering heat! 11 Aug 2008 10:35am @Eric Fry: Hay thanks for poping by Eric. Hope you don't feel too much of a chill...brrrrr! I just got my 3rd cord of wood this year for the burner...hope its the last!!! I cannot imagine the heat of Houston, don't think I've every experienced it! What are we talking about here??? 30, 35, 40 degreesC or more?? Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesWe've been around 100F for a few weeks, and heading into the hottest time of year. (I guess that's around 38-39C) It's been over 100 in much of Texas, (40+C) and little relief in sight. Here in Houston, we have very high humidity also, from the seabreeze off of the Gulf of Mexico, so it's tropical feeling for most of the year. (you can start sweating without exertion well before sunrise!) I only go through about 1 cord of firewood during the winter, though, so I guess it's an even trade. 11 Aug 2008 11:04am @Eric Fry: Wow! I suppose I am used to living in countries with definate seasons! I suppose it was easy to come from the UK to NZ....very similar seasons. Mmmmm...40 degrees...think I would struggle a bit, especially having to work in that heat, but then again we would have more air con if that were the case. Its just fascinating!! We do get 'Norwesters' in NZ which was a new one on me....North west strong wind that brings a north west arch of cloud over Christchurch...and a fiesty mood too! I'll try and capture that sometime 4 ya> Good to chat:-) Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomYou're on top of the world here....! what an amazing sight, guess you'll be snowboarding all the way back to Christchurch.. ^.^ Do they have snowboarding for geriatrics....? 11 Aug 2008 2:38pm @Observing: Thanks Mike, it was amazing! You're not a greiatric!!!:-))) But if you're wondering...I was on the learners slope with a couple in their late 60"s learning to Ski! They were fab and never gave up...it was their 4th day on the slopes! I know I haven't got that much enargy:-)) @Stefan: Thanks Stefan, always appreciated:-0 JoeB from Brampton, CanadaAmazing, so surreal the clouds fills in the frame nicely. 11 Aug 2008 3:39pm @JoeB: Thanks joe, it was surreal you're right! I kept feeling like I could jump onto the cloud and just bounce about on it it was so fluffy... @Amir: Thanks Amir and thank you for visiting:-) @jamesy: Cheers Jamesy and welcome to Am3:-)) maxine from Rangiora, New Zealandwell done C, gorgeous shot, the cloud really gives the feeling of height doesn't it. Love the blue and white colors. 11 Aug 2008 8:52pm @maxine: Thanks Max:-) Always happy you visited:-)) DarkElf from Perth, Australiawhat a sensational view! i love the layered composition and the peaks raising up behind the band of clouds! 12 Aug 2008 3:55am @DarkElf: Thank you, really appreciate your comment:-) |
